I never knew William. He was born 101 years before me. He died the year my mother was born. He was my great great uncle's brother-in-law. He was the only son out of 6 children. Through the McMinn side of my family I have gained possession of the family Bible and photo album of his sister, Mary Eloise McMinn. He attended the University of North Carolina. There are records of him being a senior, but I have no proof he graduated. His father was a doctor. Being a Jr. there may have been pressure for him to be what they wanted him to be. He ended up heading out west. The census for his time in Colorado indicate that he was a farm worker. His last 15 years of life he worked as a gardener in North Hollywood on the private estate of Oscar Louis Anderson #10555965 and his wife Hazel #10555967. I list their Find A Grave ID numbers because I feel they were like his family. His address was their address. Georgina Lee Moor #137727960, a young wife with 2 children, was the informant on his death certificate. They may have been good friends, or she may have been involved with the hospital. All the birth and family blanks on the certificate say UNKNOWN. I'll never know why he went his separate way, apparently breaking with his family, except for Mary Eloise, and giving false info on the census more than once. I just hope he found happiness on the path he chose.
I just discovered that there was another son, who was born about 1871, and seems to have been named Waddy, possibly short for Wadsworth. I found an 1895 marriage record for Waddy B. ( possibly Blasingame ) Whitted and Mary Jutten/Jotten in Montrose, CO. William would have been in Colorado around that time. Mary was born in Germany in 1872, and died in Montrose in 1904. Haven't found out any more about Waddy. Mary's memorial number is 101724147. I added a photo from the photo album that may be Waddy, along with the marriage record that is listed on Ancestry.
