Dorothy Grace Mehl, died, Thursday, June 21 at Mary House TCU.

Service will be Wednesday, at the Messiah Lutheran Church in Murdo.

Burial will be at Murdo City Cemetery. Isburg Funeral Chapel has been placed in care of the arrangements.

Dorothy Grace Sanborn was born at Draper, S.D. on May 5, 1925 to Charles C. and Emma Marie (Hahne) Sanborn. For a short time after her father's death in 1926 she spent time with relatives near Ipswich, S.D., to return home to attend the Draper Independent School Dist No. 36, and graduated in 1945.

Dorothy was married to Donald Pronneke on May 5, 1946 and resided near Okaton, S.D. for 35 years raising hereford bulls. Donald passed away in 1981. She was married to Leo Mehl on May 19, 1984 and resided in Liberty, Kan. for a time before returning to Murdo, S.D., where Leo passed away in 1991, she then married LeRoy Nichols on June 3, 2003 in Murdo and he passed away in 2004. Dorothy was still living in Murdo at the time of her death.

Dorothy's hands were never idle, as she was an avid seamstress, homemaker, and noted for her knitting, crocheting and embroidery work. Her interests were always close to home as she was involved in extension clubs. She and Don were involved with the square dancing clubs in Murdo and White River as they had become avid square and round dancers.

In later years she would travel to Apache Junction, Ariz. to spend winters and found herself becoming an avid bowler, pool player and attended just about every social activity offered. She was a reader, played organ and piano, and was involved in handicraft activities. She had a green thumb, raising flowers and always a vegetable garden.

She was preceded in death by her parents, two brothers, Warren and Robert, and three husbands.

She is survived by her three nephews and two nieces, and a host of many friends.
