Died
Miss Kathryn Searcy died at her home southwest of town, Wednesday morning after a long and protracted illness. The obsequies were held today at 2 o'clock at the Methodist church, her old pastor at Alva, now stationed at Guthrie, Rev. Case, delivering the sermon. The mixed quartette rendered the songs that she had loved and had requested to be sung at her funeral. The floral offerings from friends and lodges and schoolmates at Alva were many and very beautiful. There was a large attendance of friends and neighbors who gathered to pay their respects. Interment was made in the Garber cemetery. (Obituary next week)

Earth has one pure soul less, and heaven on glad, bright angel more since January 21st, when Kathryn O. Searcy, after nearly three years of patient suffering, crossed over to be with Jesus. To her Death was not the King of Terrors, but a blessed angel, who came in love and took the waiting one home.
Kathryn O., the 2nd daughter of Stephen and Margaret Searcy, was born at Coffeyville, Kan., June 10th, 1888. After finishing the home school, she attended the High School one year in her native city; then entered the North Western State Normal from which she graduated in 1910.
Kathryn had chosen teaching as her life work, a profession for which she was so eminently fitted in mind and heart. One year as a teacher of the home school proved that hers was the ability to govern by love and kindness.
She leaves to mourn her loss, father, mother, two sisters – Mrs. James Cullison of Enid, Miss Temple, a host of relatives and friends.
The elegant white casket was covered with a profusion of loveliest flowers, tender tributes of respect from school-mates at Alva, friends in Enid, the Rebecca lodge, and cousins at Danville and Wichita, Kan.
The funeral services were conducted by her favorite friend and pastor, Rev. Case of Guthrie, assisted by Rev. Kleinsteiber of Garber. Interment in the Garber cemetery.
