Ralph Eugene ("Gene") Johnson left this world and joined his son, Brandon in heaven on July 20, 2019 at home in Rockwall, Texas at the age of 78. He was born on January 17, 1941 at Roaring Fork, Wise County, Virginia, the son of Clyde Johnson and Angeline Lucy (Stidham) Johnson. He grew up in the mountains of Virginia and when he was a teenager, the family moved to Oceana, West Virginia. He graduated from Oceana High School in Oceana, WV. He was a faithful member of the New Horizon Vineyard Church and knew Jesus was his savior. He joined the Air force in 1959 and served for four years. This brought him to Texas where he remained the rest of his life. He worked for NCR Corporation for over 31 years before retiring. Gene had been losing his eyesight for many years and became legally blind at the age of 43. His sight continued to deteriorate for the rest of his life. He never let that stop him. He is survived by his wife, Marian, Son, Step children, 11 Grand children, Brother. and three sisters.
Gene was immensely loved by so many and gave all his heart in return. He was revered by his church congregation and was an outstanding member of his community. He loved to serve his fellow man and would willingly reach out to help others when they were in need. He had a perfect sense of reading people and knowing what to do or say to comfort them. He had a zest for life and lived it to it's fullest. He was incredibly intelligent and loved restoring antique radios and vintage vehicles. He was a wonderful example of how a man should love his wife, children and grandchildren and he will be missed dearly, but never forgotten. Thank you for the amazing journey, we love you!
