Susan Bashore (maiden name) was first married to Henry Bashore, a farmer. They were the parents of seven children. Henry died when their youngest child was only three years old and their oldest was only thirteen. About five years after Henry's death, Susan remarried. She married another widower, William Swartzbaugh, a farmer. He had several children from his previous marriage and Susan and William and two more children were born from this union. William passed away in 1900, leaving two lots in Pleasant Hill, Ohio, to Susan. In 1905, Susan married Peter Rench, a laborer who had been married twice previously, once to Susan's sister, Catherine. At the time of their marriage, Susan was 62 and Peter was 60. They traveled to California in 1907, staying there for only a little more than half a year, before returning back to Ohio. Susan's death certificate stated that the cause of her death was complete paralysis.
