When Andrew was about 14 years of age he traveled alone to France's coast and stowed away on a ship. He was discoverd at sea and put ashore in New Orleans, Louisana, USA. (Or so the story goes...) Andrew then traveled to Wisconsin where he lived for a time until he moved and settled in Perry County, Missouri. He became a farmer and owned 320 acres of land.
Andrew married Mary in Brazeau, Perry County, Missouri, and the they were together until Andrew's death. The couple had 13 children. Mary went on to remarry once more, but had no more children.
