Obituary: W. F. Bellmay, 77, Dies; Ex-Constable, Athlete
Thomaston, [Conn.], Dec. 26 (Special) - William Franklin Bellmay, 77, a constable here for many years and an outstanding football player on town teams years ago, died at his home, 332 Reynolds Bridge Rd., Wednesday after a long illness.
He was born in New Haven, June 30, 1880, a son of the late William and Helena (Dykman) Bellmay.
He was a member of the Eagle Rock Congregational Church, the Foresters of America and the Knights of Pythias.
He was custodian of Thomaston schools for 20 years and served as a constable for nearly 30 years. He was a member of the state championship Thomaston Ponies Football team for several years. He was picked as All State center for several years on semi-pro teams.
He leaves a son, Leslie Bellmay of Thomaston; two brothers, Chester Bellmay of Thomaston and Nelson Bellmay of Waterbury, and 10 grandchildren.
Funeral services will be held Saturday at 2:30 p.m. at the Hotchkiss Funeral Home, 46 High St., Thomaston. Burial will be in Hillside Cemetery at the convenience of the family
Friends may call at the funeral home Friday from 3 to 5 and 7 to 9 p.m.
