She married Orville Iveland and they became the parents of seven children: Susan, Loree, xxxx, xxx, xxxx, xxxx and Rod. They were later divorced.
On January 14, 1967 she was united in marriage to Carl Nath at Grace Lutheran Church.
Throughout her "working days" Betty was involved in food service. In 1968 she and Carl decided to purchase the café where Betty had worked for several years. Together they operated Nath's Recreation and Café until 1976. Betty then became employed at The Pantry, then in the bakery/deli at Glen's Grocery where she worked until her retirement.
She enjoyed playing bingo and cards, going fishing, watching "Wheel of Fortune" and doing jigsaw puzzles. She loved her family, looking at her photo albums, going for rides around town, McDonald's cheeseburgers and ice cream. As a close family friend once said, "Betty has always handled the things life handed to her with strength, humility and humor.
Betty was a member of Grace Lutheran Church, in Luverne.
Betty is survived by her children, xxxx (xxxx) Nytes, Adrian; xxx (xxx) Iveland, xxxx (xxxx) Iveland, xxxx (xxxx) Waknitz, all of Luverne; son-in-law xxxx Brown, Boise, Idaho; sixteen grandchildren, thirty-one great grandchildren and several great-great grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, Carl, daughters Susan Blankartz, and Loree Brown, son Rod Iveland, grandsons, Shane Brown and Sam Waknitz, great granddaughter Brandy Burell, siblings, Russ, Art and Lloyd Hulbert, Helen Christensen and Jessie Bell.
A memorial service will be Monday at 10:30 am at the Dingmann Funeral Home, in Luverne, officiated by Pastor Ron Nichols. A time of fellowship will be one hour prior to the service at the funeral home on Monday. Burial of cremains will be in the Maplewood Cemetery in Luverne.
