Charles Morris lived in Newport, Ar., with his mother & grandfather, W. H. Morris until he was about 18 years old & then moved to Ft. Smith, Ar. He followed his sister Doris to Az. Where he worked for the State of Az. Highway Department as an accountant. He joined the U.S. Navy during WWI from Az. He served from 1919 to 1920 on the USS Kanawha & an oil tanker. He spent some time in San Salvador, So. America. He returned from service & was discharged in Az. He again worked for the Sate of Az. He met Agnes in Albuquerque, NM. She was in the area with her sister, Margaret, because of suspected TB.

On Census of Jackson co., Ar. 1900: 1910: Morris Charles Carpenter was his legal name but he liked the Charles better and used that. Agnes was from St. Mary, Ks. & was in the west with her sister, Margaret Gibbons because of suspected TB in Margaret. Charles & his mother Savannah had been in Los Angeles & Monrovia, Ca. earlier also & he had worked there in the bank in Monrovia. Charles stayed in Long Beach the rest of his life in the produce business at 1st & later working for Pari Mutual Corp. He is buried in All Souls Cemetery in Long Beach along with Agnes, his wife.
