Viola Wynelle Webb Belcher (Wynelle), resident of Aiken, SC, passed away on Sunday, July 14, 2019, at the age of 93. She had been in assisted living in Aiken since 2017, having relocated from Stone Mountain, GA to be near family. Wynelle was born on October 12, 1925 in Hahira, GA. Her parents were Everett Senro Webb and Cora Lee McAllister Webb, and stepmother, Viola McAllister Webb (Ola). She graduated from Morven High School in Morven, GA in 1943, and married her high school sweetheart, Maynor Hansel Belcher (M.H.). She followed him all over the U.S., as he was in the Army Air Corp. She attended both Georgia State Women’s College in Valdosta, GA, and the University of Georgia in Athens, GA, receiving her B.S. in Home Economics in 1951.

Wynelle and M.H. started their family in 1951 in Valdosta. M.H.’s career moved them around the southeast, she lived in Dothan, AL, Augusta, GA, Memphis, TN, and Stone Mountain, GA. Even though she was a south Georgia girl, she considered Augusta to be her home-away-from-home. She was active in the Spade and Trowel Garden Club, Women’s Auxiliary of Georgia Pharmaceutical Association, and The Hill Baptist Church. After a short time in Memphis, TN, M.H.’s company relocated them one last time, to Stone Mountain, GA. She became an active member at Rainbow Park Baptist Church in Decatur, GA, spending many of her 33 years there, teaching children’s Sunday School and serving on the Hospitality Committee. She later joined Smoke Rise Baptist Church, Stone Mountain, GA.

Wynelle was the epitome of a homemaker. She loved all things that would make her home beautiful and comfortable, inside and out. There wasn’t a home project that intimidated her, and she completed all projects with perfection. She was an avid seamstress, making clothes for all of her children and herself, and other furnishings for her home. She also loved spending time in the kitchen, especially to bake for special occasions. When the weather suited, you might find her gardening. She kept immaculate flowerbeds all around the yard. It was evident to all she showed hospitality to, that her home was her sanctuary.

Wynelle was first and foremost passionate about her family. She shared over 75 years of marriage to M.H. Her children and grandchildren were also her joy.

She is predeceased by her parents, Everett and Lee Webb, stepmother, Ola Webb, her sister, Faustina Webb Cooper, and nephew Kenneth W. Cooper. She will be missed by her husband, M.H.; children R. Michael Belcher(Marilyn), Kathy B. Courtney(Ken), Diana B. Davis(Lamar), grandchildren Kathryn B. Brown(Lee), Kyle P. Belcher, Charles E. Courtney(Samantha), Christopher L. Courtney(Gillian), Caroline E. Davis, and Gordon M. Davis; and nephew Hal Cooper(Edna)

Family and friends are invited to gather for visitation on Friday, July 19, 2019 from 12 noon until 1 p.m. at Horis A. Ward Funeral Home Fairview Chapel, 376 Fairview Road, Stockbridge, GA 30281, where funeral service will begin at 1 p.m. Committal service will immediately follow in Fairview Memorial Gardens, Stockbridge, GA. In lieu of flowers, please make memorial gifts to Smoke Rise Baptist Church, Stone Mountain, Ga.
