Peter S. Banta, Sr (son of Albert Banta and Christina Styntie Monfort)9 was born May 31, 1771 in Probably Conewago, York Co., Pennsylvania, and died 1836 in Preble County, Ohio.He married Effie "Effa" Hole, daughter of Zachariah Hole and Hannah Delay.
Per book-History of Preble County, Ohio page 277: Peter Banta, came subsequently, and settled on the farm north of Abraham Halderman. He was a preacher of the Christian denomination and one of the earliest of the neighborhood. He died in 1836 in his sixty-sixth year, and is buried on the Van Ausdal farm.
