Death date and location isn't verified. Wayne was born in the Ozark mountains of Arkansas, but the Blaney family moved to Fort Cobb, Oklahoma in 1925. Wayne and his younger brother Marion attended several country schools near the Blaney farm and Wayne eventually graduated from Fort Cobb High School in 1932. After graduation Wayne enlisted in the military and served with the 31st Infantry, Company D. He served in the Philippines prior to WW II. Something happened to Wayne while in the Philippines. He came back to the United States about 1938 and he had been severely injured. He is listed in the 1940 census as living in a Veteran's Hospital in Texas. He had to register for the draft in 1941 and his draft records indicate he was already a US soldier. His father signed the draft card for him and the records indicate he had several scars on his arms. Family stories passed down say that Wayne suffered what was commonly known then as "shell shock." After returning from the Philippians he never spoke. In his brother John's obituary from Oct 28, 1948 it says Wayne was living in New Mexico. It is possible he was living near his sister Addie Blaney Forrester at the time. He supposedly lived in several Veteran centers and walked away from one in California never to be heard from again.
