Joyce Natalie Farthing, 77, Ivy Hall Nursing Home, went home to be with the Lord on Wednesday, December 23, 2009. She was the daughter of the late Walter and Cathy C. Slemp Farthing and was a native of Johnson County. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by a grandson; a grandson-in-law and seven brothers and sisters. Ms. Farthing was retired from NARC and was of the Christian Faith. She loved to work crossword puzzles. She is survived by a daughter, Michelle Estes and her husband, Kirk; three granddaughters, Christie and Joy Harper and Lindsey Harper-Hicks; seven great-grandchildren; two step-grandsons; a sister and a special niece, Sue Maze. Several nieces and nephews and special friends also survive. A graveside service will be conducted for Ms. Farthing on Monday, December 28, 2009 at 11:00 AM at the Browns Cemetery, Johnson County, Neva Community with Rev. Gary Pate officiating. Active pallbearers will be selected from family and friends. Those wishing to attend are asked to meet the family at the cemetery at 10:50 AM Monday.
