January 25, 1936 - July 11, 2019
Mr. Willie Jerry Caskey was born January 25, 1936 in Shreveport, LA to Willie and Kate Caskey and died July 11, 2019 at 83 years.
Jerry was a true country boy raised on hard hand farm work in Friendship, LA. He spent his adult years on a small farm in Bienville, LA and as a resident of Jonesboro, LA for over 30 years. He loved country music, country food, baseball, and LA Tech athletics. Jerry was a loyal fan of Brooklyn/LA Dodgers from the 1940's until his last breath.
He had an incredible ability to accurately remember names, dates, and events never forgetting for his entire life. He knew the birthdays, wedding dates, and death dates of all close and extended family and friends and was the family historian. He had an encyclopedic knowledge of baseball statistics, especially Dodger pitcher's stats and batting averages which he maintained for decades.
Jerry was preceded in death by his parents; two brothers, Loffie and Ford Caskey; sister Era Sanderlin; and several nieces. He is survived by a brother, John Langford Caskey of Shreveport; five nephews, Gary, Dane, and Edward Caskey, Ted and Randy Sanderlin; and several great nieces and nephews.
The family thanks Dr. Rebecca Crouch, who was his physician and friend for three decades and for whom Jerry had complete confidence. Thanks and gracious acknowledgement to the caregivers of Forest Haven Rehabilitation and Nursing Center for providing care and kindness to Jerry for the past 3 and a half years.
