J. Lee Beard, long-time resident of Hamilton County, died very suddenly Tuesday morning from a heart attack. He went to the table and ate breakfast and was in good spirits and at 8:45 he was dead. He had moved to Hamilton in December with his family on account of heart trouble.
Deceased was born in Coryell county, September 10, 1867. On October 14, 1900 he was married to Mrs. Alice Stuteville, and since that time they made their home on their farm in the West Point community until moving to Hamilton in December.
Funeral services were held in the first Methodist Church Wednesday afternoon at two o'clock with Rev. A. B. English in charge. Interment followed in Cottage Hill Cemetery.
Mr. Beard is survived by his widow, four sons: J. L. Beard, Jr., of Coleman; T. E. Beard, Abilene; LeRoy Beard, Burkett; Truman Beard, George's Creek; three step-children: O. E. Stuteville, Lordsburg, N.M.; Edgar Stuteville, Tyler; Mrs. Joe L. Burton of Abilene: two brothers: Elisha Beard of Denver and Tom Beard of Uvalde, and one sister, Mrs. J. T. Martin, of Dallas.
Relatives from Coleman, Burkett, Glen Rose and Gatesville were here to attend the funeral.
