Dick was born on March 25, 1945 in Howard County, Indiana to John A. & Dorothy A. (Soblotne) Bauer.
He graduated from Bluffton High School in 1964. Dick worked as a tool and die maker for many years before retiring. He managed Len’s Package & Liquor Store in Bluffton. He was a member of the Sons of the American Legion Post #111, Bluffton Moose Lodge, Pennville Masonic Lodge and the Fort Wayne Scottish Rite.
Dick is survived by his son Jerry L. (Christy) Bauer, of Berne, one grandson John D. Bauer of Petroleum and three step-grandchildren; Allison Cook of Geneva, Madison Cook and Vincent Cook both of Berne. He is also survived by two sisters; Sharon (Gary) Crandall of Elwood and Joyce (Paul) Beecher of Craigville.
Dick is preceded in death by his parents and a son Kenneth J. Bauer in 1999.
A memorial service will be held at 3 P.M. Saturday, July 20, 2019 at the Thoma/Rich, Lemler Funeral Home in Bluffton. The service will begin with a Masonic service offered by the Pennville Masonic Lodge followed by the memorial service with Chaplain Chuck Koenemann officiating. A private family burial will take place at Greenlawn Cemetery in Greentown, Indiana at a later date.
Calling hours will be held from 1 to 3 P.M. on Saturday, July 20, 2019 at the funeral home.
