Ann Elizabeth Kerrigan "Betty" was born June 3, 1920, in Philadelphia, PA to Florence Gertrude Herman and Dr. Byron M. Fell. She graduated from St. Mary's Academy in 1938, and then graduated from Pierce Business College. She worked for the Social Security Administration in Philadelphia and then in 1954, moved to Japan for an opportunity to work for the Department of the Army.
She married Thomas H. Kerrigan 2 years later in 1956, and then started a family. They raised their four children in Japan and Okinawa and then made Austin their home in 1973. She retired from Federal Government Service (SS Admin, Dept. of Army, and IRS) after 25 years. After retirement she enjoyed gardening, traveling (especially to the beach), swimming, reading and playing the piano. She learned to crochet and became a founding member of the Prayer Shawl Ministry at St. Catherine of Siena Catholic Church. She also used her crocheting talent to create baby blankets for babies at Brackenridge Neonatal Intensive Care Unit. In her later years, her life was enriched greatly by participating in the "Sanctuary" at Faith United Methodist Church. Her greatest love was motherhood (mother/grandmother/great-grandmother).
She is survived by her 4 children, MaryAnn Hazlett and husband, Darren, of Austin, Clare Kerrigan of Austin, Joyce Fricke and husband, Pierre, of Boston, and Thomas Kerrigan of Austin; 6 grandchildren, Travis Butler and wife Valerie of Austin, Tyler Butler and wife, Aimee of Austin, Tracie Butler of Jacksonville, FL, Ryan Hazlett and wife Abby of Dallas, Collin Hazlett and Carleigh Hazlett both of Austin; and her 4 great-grandchildren, Cole Minor, Ashlynn Axtell, Levi Butler and Austin Butler.
