J. W. Carmon of Paragould passed away July 9, 2019. He was born in Paragould on July 11, 1931 to Jim and Verna Carmon of Paragould and was of the Baptist belief. J. W. was retired from the U.S. Army as Master Sergeant in 1972. He worked for Civil Service at Ft. Hood, Tx., until 1981, he moved back to Paragould.
He is survived by his wife of 38 years, Marjorie Carmon of the home; six children, Sherry Cavender and Linda Person of Killeen, TX, Rickey Carmon of Florence TX, Dennis, Jimmy, and Scotty Carmon of Hot springs; one brother, Jack Carmon of Hardy; 27 grandchildren, 24 great-grandchildren and 2 great-great-grandchildren; four step-children, Kevin Bay, Sandy Jetton, Shari Hicks and Mike Bay.
J.W. was preceded in death by his first wife, Ann Carmon, 1980; parents, Jim and Verna Carmon of Paragould; brother, Harold Carmon of Gosnell; sister, Patsy Meyers of O'Fallon, MO; two grandchildren, Jeff and Jennifer Cavender of Killeen, TX.
Visitation will be Friday from 1-2 PM at Heath Funeral Home. Funeral service will begin at 2:00 in the chapel with Andrew Hicks officiating. Burial will follow at Greene County Memorial Garden Cemetery followed by full Military Rites.
