Dr Leon Ross Sitter was born on February 21, 1925, in Cobden, Union County, Illinois, the son of Truman Adolphus Sitter (1899–1980) and Eliza "Margaret" (Condon) Sitter (1905–1999) of Cobden, Illinois.
During World War II he was a member of the 342nd Infantry, 86th Division, Company C and served in Germany where he was awarded 2 Bronze Stars. He attended many reunions and kept up with Company C members for years.
Leon married on July 7, 1946 to Patricia Parks.
He was an 18-year employee of the Department of Schools at Fort Campbell, Kentucky and after retirement became a professor of education at Austin Peay State University. He was also a member and elder of the First Presbyterian Church of Clarksville, Montgomery County, Tennessee.
Living in Clarksville, Leon was 94 years old when he passed away on July 5, 2019 at Spring Meadows Nursing Home.
Survivors included his wife, a married son, married daughter, four grandchildren, five great-grandchildren and other family members and friends.
Graveside Services were held in Cobden Cemetery with Military Honors.
