Barbara was born in Greenville on July 29, 1931 to Hermann Sockwell Winans and Marguerite Morrow Winans. She married Bruce Eugene Henington of Wolfe City on June 23, 1951 at the Central Christian Church in Greenville. She was a certified dyslexia therapist at Texas Scottish Rite Hospital for Children in Dallas for 25 years.
She is preceded in death by her parents and husband.
