Roy Lee Austin was born in Dillard, Oklahoma to Ruby Charlie Hodgeson and Albert Austin on July 21, 1933. He lived in Orr, Oklahoma during his youth, and later moved to Wilson, Oklahoma. At the age of seventeen, Roy joined the United States Navy. He spent several years in the Navy before returning to Wilson. Roy met the love of his life, Arlene Frances Dickson, in 1961. Soon afterwards, they moved to Grapevine, Texas, where they spent the next three years. In 1964, Roy and Arlene moved to Lake Jackson, Texas, where they have lived for the last 50 years. Roy and Arlene were blessed with their son, Roy Lee Austin, Jr. in 1964. Roy is survived by his wife Arlene; son Roy Lee and wife Iliana of Tomball, Texas; grandson Chase Michael Austin of New Braunfels, Texas, grandson Jimmy Pacheco of Tomball and granddaughter Erin Nicole Austin of Tomball; brother Hershal Lee Austin, sister Virginia Henley, brother-in-law Donald Dickson and wife Lucretia, and sister-in-law Mary Lou Measles. Roy was also survived by many loving nieces and nephews. The funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Thursday, July 24, 2014, at Restwood Funeral Home in Clute, Texas, with visitation from 6:00-8:00 p.m. on Wednesday, July 23, 2014. Pallbearers will be Chase Austin, Donald Dickson, Don Holtzclaw, Bobby Fortner, Paul Jacobson, T.R. Logan, Jimmy Pacheco, and Ralph Williams. Roy was a beloved husband and father, and will be greatly missed by his family and friends.
