Mrs. Bluford Keeney passes away at Prescott- Mrs. Mary Jane Keeney, wife of Bluford Keeney, passed away at her home at Prescott last Sunday morning after a brief illness.
Mrs. Keeney was born in Tennessee Feb. 25, 1852; died
Sept. 5, 1926; age 76 years 6 months 10 days. She had been a resident of Texas County for more than 50 years.
Her marriage to Bluford Keeney resulted in the birth of 16 children; Mrs. Rosa Maples, the eldest, died last October, the other 15 are still living and are Robert Keeney, Mrs. Anna Ramsey, Jesse Keeney and Fred G. Keeney all of Prescott, MO; Mrs. Mollie Smith, Mrs. Pearl Dees,
Mrs. Lula Davis, all of Licking, MO; Mrs. Alice Jarvis, Bert Keeney, William Keeney, Ernest Keeney, all of Houston, MO. and
George Keeney of Rolla, MO; Mrs. Ida Johnson and Mrs. Clara
Hicks of Bartlesville, Okla.; Mrs. Tana Cochran of Pueblo Colorado; all were present at the funeral except Mrs. Johnson.
Besides her husband and children she is survived by sisters, Mrs. Belle Hilterbrand, Houston, MO; Mrs. Amanda Hanlin of Alabama; three brothers, J.F. Watson of Houston;
E.D. Watson and L.B. Watson of Prescott.
Funeral services were conducted by Rev. W.S. Baker at Prescott Union Church Monday and the remains laid to rest in
Jones Graveyard.
Another good mother is gone, and in her passing the tears of scores of sincere friends are mingled with those of her sorrowing companion and children. May the God she loved and so faithfully served comfort the sorrowing hearts.
