Anna Myrtle (Marsh) Hadley married Walter W (Wilson) Hayward on Jul 29, 1908 in Golden, Jefferson County, Colorado. They divorced on Jul 6, 1914 in Dolores, Colorado. They had Bernice W Hayward on Apr 3, 1912 in Cook County, Illinois.

So Robert Allen Hayward was adopted and became Robert Allen Agar. Bernice was his biological mother but Paul Agar was not his biological father.

Bernice's family paid a high price in the service of their nation. Her husband, 1stSgt Paul R Agar, USMC, was a Wake Island Defender and became a Japanese POW in Dec 1941, dying in a Japanese POW camp in China in 1944. Her son, Corporal Robert A Agar, USMC, died in Sep 1950 as a result of fierce fighting in Seoul, South Korea.

Bernice Agar herself also served as an officer in the US Army Nurse Corps from 1944-1957.
