Johannes Friedrick Leiby was the son of Frederick and Maria Mettlina Leiby and was the first of the Leiby family to be born in America.
He married in 1758 to Susanna Yerian.

He was a soldier of the Revolution, serving in
2nd. CL. 2nd. Co., 2nd. Bn. Berks County Militia).
