James nelson Russell was the 4th child of James K.P. Russell and Josephine Nelson Flow (Josie). He was involved in the oil business in Muskogee, Oklahoma in his early career. He later opened a clothing store in downtown, Hico, TX and became a real estate agent. He lived to be 85 years old and died of cancer.
