OBITUARY, Albion Evening Recorder, June 18, 1928. "Jay L. Courtright, prominent Albion man, and lifelong resident of Calhoun County, died suddenly at his home at 904 Michigan Avenue at 2 o'clock this afternoon at the age of 62 years .Heart trouble with which he had been afflicted for the past year was the cause of his death. He had been confined to his bed for the past week but the end came suddenly with no warning, and only his wife was at his bedside at the time. Besides his widow he is survived by a daughter, Miss Margaret Courtright, a teacher in the Detroit schools, and a son, Russell who graduated this year from Albion College. Two brothers, H. J. Courtright of Indianapolis, Indiana, and Ray Courtright of Clarence Township near Duck Lake, also survive. Funeral arrangements have not been made. Mr. Courtright was born on a farm in Clarence Township near Duck Lake but for many years had made his home in this city. He was a member of the Moose and Woodman lodges. For seven years he was in the employ of the Albion Co-Operative Oil company, part of the time as attendant at a filling station and part of the time as local manager for the company. Failing health however force him to give up that work recently."
