Early Building Contractor, Architect, Minister and Real Estate Developer of Los Angeles, California. The son of Lemuel Young and Ann (Greenlee) Cooper of Pennsylvania, he came to Los Angeles in 1913 and built hundreds of homes and other buildings in Windsor Square, Beverly Hills, Hancock Park, San Marino and the Wilshire District. He was trained as a Christian minister at Bethany College in West Virginia, where he later served as treasurer. With his brothers James and Myers, the future Governor of Ohio, he formed the Cooper Brothers real estate business in Cincinnati, Ohio, later known as the Avondale Real Estate and Improvement Company. He also served at several Christian churches in Ohio before coming to California, where he served as the president of the First Christian Church of Los Angeles, and was a respected preacher. Husband of Ella (Harvuot) Cooper, they married in 1884 and were the parents of two daughters, Virginia Davis and Mildred Cooper.
