Joseph Samuel Barnhurst, our beloved husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather, brother and friend passed away unexpectedly Monday December 26, 1999 in Phoenix, Arizona.
Joseph was born in Hatch, Utah December 3, 1926, the son of Joseph Hatch Barnhurst and Ada Josephine Stolk.
He married Luana Jean Jackson, May 29, 1945 in Salt Lake City; their marriage was later solemnized in the Logan LDS Temple. They enjoyed many loving years together. She preceded him in death. He married Betty Huntington, June 20, 1998 in Bountiful Utah. They experienced much joy and love. Their time together was cut too short.
Joe was a hard worker. He began working at the young age of 11, contributing his earnings toward the support of his family. He was a loyal employee of Unisys for over 30 years.
Joe was a football player for South High School. He served with the US Navy. As a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints he served as Elders Quorum president, scout leader, Sunday School leader and assorted other assignments.
Dad was a nurturing, caretaker. He gave tender and devoted care to his mother, our mother and most recently to his wife Betty. He was a good cook, loved his garden, enjoyed music and found pleasure in special surprises.
"Daddy, I will always remember the baby orchids on Easter, the Valentine chocolates, your Christmas salads, and turkey dinners. Love you." He loved Christmas. Thank you Betty for making his last Christmas a special one.
