Zion Baptist Church, Vonore Masonic Lodge #658, Vonore Eastern Star #383 and a 32nd Degree Scottish Rite, Knoxville. Survivors include his wife, Virginia Gentry Thomas; daughter and son-in-law, Virginia Gail and Allen Lail of Vonore, Tennessee; grandson and spouse, Brent and Allison Lail of Maryville, Tennessee; sisters, Janette Baker of Vonore, Tennessee, Lucille Kirkland of Maryville, Tennessee; brothers, J. L. Thomas of Madisonville, Tennessee, Charlie Thomas of Englewood, Tennessee; several nieces and nephews and friends. Preceded in death by his parents, Jefferson and Ethel Gibson Thomas; sisters, Grace Chastain, Louise McLemore, Cubie Summey and Carylon Thomas; brothers, Frank Thomas and George Thomas. Funeral 7:00 PM, Friday, December 29, 2006 in Biereley-Hale Chapel with the Reverend Tommy Self and the Reverend Jarvis Bivens officiating.
