Topsie Elmo "Doc" Kemp, 74, Broken Bow, died Monday, Dec. 10, 2001, at DeQueen Regional Medical Center, DeQueen, Ark. He was born June 19, 1927, at Arthur, Okla., the son of John and Jannie Kemp.

He was a veteran of the U.S. Army, was affiliated with Oak Grove Missionary Baptist Church and had lived in this area most of his life. A rancher, he loved his cattle and enjoyed fishing, reading and gardening.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Tessie Marie Chapman Kemp; his parents, John and Jannie Kemp; one brother, Theodore Kemp; his father-in-law and mother-in-law, Grover Sr. and Jennie Chapman; and one niece, Carolyn Kemp Edwards.

He leaves to cherish his memory two sisters and a brother-in-law, Johnnie Faye and Ken Landers, Denton, Texas; and Lena Kemp Clanton, Houston, Texas; two brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law, James and Beverly Chapman and Grover and Louise Chapman, all of Broken Bow; special friends, Joyce Chapman and Bob and Sue Sorrell, all of Broken Bow; and several nieces and nephews.

Services will be at 10 a.m. Thursday, Dec. 13, at Brumley-McCurtain Chapel with Bro. Melvin Gibson officiating. Burial will follow in Broken Bow Cemetery.
