Former Resident of Edinburg Community Was Traffic Manager of Western Union
Edinburg, Oct. 10 – Friends and relatives here have received notice of the death on Tuesday night in Seattle, Washington, of Omer E. Goetz, traffic manager of the Western Union and Pacific Cable Comapny, and a former resident of this community. Mr. Goetz died as the result of apoplexy.
Mr. Goetz lived in Indianapolis for several years before moving to Seattle where he had resided for the past 25 years. He had been an official of the Western Union for many years.
Mr. Goetz was born and reared on a farm southwest of Edinburg and learned the Morse Code at Columbus when a boy. He had many relatives residing in Johnson County.
Funeral services will be delayed until the arrival in Seattle of relatives from the east.

FORMER LOCAL RESIDENT DIES
Omer E. Goetz, Official of Western Union, Victim of Apoplexy
Omer E. Goetz, traffic manager of the Western Union Telegraph and Pacific Cable company at Seattle, Wash., and former resident of this county, died yesterday at his home in Seattle, according to word received here today by relatives. Death was due to apoplexy.
Mr. Goetz was born on a farm in the Ohio Ridge community in Union township and spent his early life there. He learned the telegraph business at the Columbus office when a young man. He located in the west several years ago. He had been an official of the telegraph company for many years.
Surviving are two brothers and three sisters. Albert and Joseph Goetz, Mrs. Willard Gow, Mrs. Fuller Forsythe of Indianapolis and Mrs. Andrew Powell, east of the city, and a number of other relatives in this county. Albert Goetz left today for Seattle to attend the funeral.
