Our dear sweet wife, mother, grandmother, and sister, Laura Emery Meier Stewart Acklin, age 79, died September 21, 1990, in Sandy, Utah.
Born July 2, 1911, in Brigham City, Utah, to Gerald A. and Augusta Jorgensen Meier. Married Earl W. Stewart, he preceded her in death. Married Tom Acklin, September 3, 1977, in Elko, Nevada. Member of the Free Evangelical Church of Salt Lake City. Retired Secretary for Union Pacific Railroad where she worked for 29 years. Member of the Union Pacific Old Timers Club and an avid porcelain doll maker.
Survived by her husband, Sandy; daughters, Janet Mower, Sandy; Karen Billings, Salt Lake City; and a son Gary Stewart Sandy, Utah; step-children, Dorothy Craw, Richmond, Utah; W. T. Acklin, Milford, Utah; Linda Acklin, Encinitas, California; 17 grandchildren; 19 great-grandchildren; sister, Beverely Everett, Clearfield, Utah; brothers, R. G. Meier, Lewiston, Utah; Wayne J. and Paul J. Meier, both of Salt Lake City.
Graveside services will be held Monday, September 24th, 12 Noon, Bountiful City Cemetery, 2020 South 200 West. Friends may call at Larkin Mortuary, 260 East South Temple, Sunday, 6-8 pm, and Monday, from 10:30-11:30 am.
