Joan was born in Quincy, Fla. and was raised in the Bettstown Community. She had lived in Tallahassee for a number of years and moved back to Bettstown in 1994.
She graduated from Bainbridge High School and worked with the State of Florida, Division of Blind Services, then with the Department of Highway Safety and Motor Vehicles until she became disabled.

a step-daughter, her husband and their two children
her granddaughter

two brothers and their wives
a host of nieces, nephews, and numerous cousins.

A Memorial Service was held on Saturday, 1/20/2018, at Franklin Baptist Church with a reception following the service at the Fellowship Hall.
