Richard L. Beamer, 65, formerly of Cambridge, Kansas, passed away Monday evening, February 25, 2019 at Stormont Vail Hospital in Topeka.

Born August 10, 1953 in Winfield, Kansas, he was the son of Forrest Smith and Margaret Louise (Marsland) Beamer. He was raised and received his education in Burden, graduating from Central High School in Burden in 1971. Richard married Vickie Gurnee in 1972. To this union three children were born, Justin, Richard J., and Lori. The couple later divorced. He was later married to Victoria Applebee Winter and later divorced.

Richard held many jobs including working in sporting goods at WalMart, as a delivery driver for Coca Cola, a car salesman in Mulvane and Ponca City, and in maintenance at the casino. He was the number one salesman for MCI Phone Company, and was a rodeo photographer for Beamer Photos. He also took great pride being a rancher.

He was a man of many talents. He enjoyed cooking, grilling, gardening, singing, antiquing, and helping teach country western dance lessons. He especially loved to hunt, trap, and fish.

His family includes his longtime companion Cindy Bennett of Ark City; his children, Justin Lee Beamer of Ark City; Richard Jason Beamer and wife, Monica of Winfield; Lori Beamer of Winfield; Megan Betzen and husband, Craig of Belle Plaine; his grandchildren, Cassandra (Joe), Josiah, Aaron, Owen, Alivia, Alaina, Deidra (Alex), Alexandrea, Bennett, Blaike; and his eight great grandchildren.

In addition to his parents, Richard was preceded in death by an infant sister, Harlena Beamer.

Memorial services will be held on Tuesday, March 5, 2019 at 10:00 A.M. at Miles Funeral Service. Private inurnment will take place at a later date. A visitation will be held on Monday, March 4th from 5 to 8 P.M. The family will greet visitors from 5 to 7 that evening.

A memorial has been established in Richard's name for the Alzheimer's Association. Contributions may be made through the funeral home.
