Queen Elizabeth Neal Adams was listed as 11/12 of a year old in the August 10, 1860 U.S. Census, Hickory Head Post Office, Lancaster District, South Carolina. That would indicate that she was born between August 11 and September 30, 1859. Her parents were listed as John and Elizabeth Neill (later Neal.) In the 1870 U.S. Census, taken June 28, 1870, she was listed as thirteen years old, which was likely an error. Her father was listed as John Neil. The Post Office was listed as Taxahaw and in the Flat Creek Township. Her mother died in 1862 and her father married Pharasia Gulinair Horton. Queen Elizabeth Neal married Robert Franklin Adams, a carpenter, and they lived in the town of Kershaw, in Lancaster County, SC. They had three sons, Ernest C. Adams (1885-1947,) Arthur C. Adams (1890-1917,) and Lewis P. Adams (1892-1959.) Her son, Lewis, stated that his mother died when he was four years old which would have been around 1896. The State of South Carolina did not register births or deaths prior to 1915, and a record of her death has not yet been found. It is thought by family that she was buried in the plot purchased by Robert F. Adams in the Kershaw City Cemetery.
