"Roy D. Rogers, 83, Route 3, Covington, died at 12:45 a.m. Monday, November 16, 1987, at Covington Manor Health Center. He was born February 9, 1904, in the home in which he was still living prior to going to the nursing center, the son of Klement and Lula Dice Rogers. He was married December 22, 1928, to Mabel Harrison, who survives.

He was a life resident of Troy Township, farming all of his life, retiring in 1979. He was a former Fountain County road supervisor in the 1930s and served on Covington School Board several years. He was a member of Sterling Christian Church, Fountain Lodge 60 F&AM, Scottish Rite Valley of Indianapolis, Tidal Lodge 36, Knights of Pythias, past president of Men's Fellowship, Western Christian Evangelical Association.

Surviving, besides his wife, are three daughters, Mrs. Forrest (Barbara) Gurley, Covington, Mrs. Bill (Eleanor) Burkholder, Route 3, Covington, and Mrs. Richard (Donna) Broderick, Catlin, Illinois; five granddaughters; four great-grandchildren; three sisters, Mrs. Don (Virgie) Starr, Centerville, Mrs. Louise Dickerson, Lebanon, and Mrs. Marie Allison, Seymour; and a brother, Vernon, Veedersburg. He was preceded in death by a grandson.

Friends may call from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. today (Tuesday) at Bodine & Shelby Funeral Home, Covington. Funeral services will be at 11 a.m. Wednesday at Sterling Christian Church with Roger James, Gary Johnson and Paul Kent officiating. The body will lie in state one hour prior to the service.
