A strong and respected member of the business community passed away yesterday morning in the person of Jacob Morse, senior member of the firm of Leopold Morse & Co.

Born in Bavaria, Germany, Mr. Morse came early to this city to join his brothers and was admitted to the firm in 1872. When his brother Leopold entered Congress, Jacob Morse assumed direct control of the firm’s affairs. A resident of this city for nearly 50 years, he endeared himself to a large circle of friends who will sadly miss him.

His charities were not less numerous than his social and personal virtues. Having threaded his way from poverty himself he never forgot the poor. He was foremost in works for the public good, was a genial companion and a sturdy business man.
