Mrs. Mary Petrie Shields, 67 wife of George F. Shields, West Martinsburg, died at the Lewis County General Hospital, Lowville, Saturday night. Prayer service was held at the Virkler funeral home, this village, at 10 o'clock Tuesday morning and the funeral service a half hour later at the West Martinsburg Methodist church, Rev. E. Starkes Beebe, of Lowville, officiating, assisted by Rev. Mr. Churchill, of Martinsburg.
The deceased was born in Martinsburg, October 9, 1857, a daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Harvey Petrie. She first was married to Edwin Brandt, who died many years ago, and later was married to George F. Shields, who survives.
