Arlund Bruce Wakefield, “Ogitchiidawg” which means “True Warrior”, age 61, of Cass Lake and formerly of Minneapolis, Minnesota began his journey to the spirit world on Friday, June 14th, 2019 from the Cornerstone Nursing Home in Bagley, MN. He was born on October 29, 1957 in Minneapolis, MN to Delores (White) and William Wakefield.

Arlund was a caring man. He exemplified honesty, integrity and was a true warrior. He enjoyed a good joke, a healthy conversation and was a problem solver. He enjoyed being with his children and grandchildren. He also enjoyed dancing at the powwows. Arlund was a fighter right up until the end, he knew the Creator was ready for him to go home. Arlund called himself an “urban neeg”. He was educated in Minneapolis and attended the Minneapolis Community College. Arlund has always tried to do what was right. He enjoyed sobriety for many, many years. He cherished his friends and his many relatives. Arlund will be missed !!!!

Those welcoming Arlund to the spirit world are his parents; Delores and William Wakefield, several siblings, aunts and uncles and other relatives.

Those he leaves behind to cherish his memory are his son; Jared Hisgun of Sisseton, SD, daughters; Kristen Cox of Minneapolis, Leann Charwood of Red Lake and Renae (Blake) Charwood of Bemidji, brother; Kevin Anoka of Minneapolis, sister; Lavonne Anoka of Minneapolis, two granddaughters; numerous nieces, nephews, many more relatives and friends.

An overnight wake for Arlund will begin at 7:00 p.m. on Friday, June 21st and continue until his 10:00 a.m. funeral service on Saturday, June 22nd all to be held at the Veteran’s Memorial Building in Cass Lake, MN. Arlund was served with love and honor by family, relatives, and friends serving as Pall Bearers and honorary Pall Bearers, including all his Urban and Rez Shinabs. Interment will be in the Old Agency Catholic Cemetery at Old Agency, MN following his Saturday services.
