James Henry Seely, age 81, of Winslow, Arkansas, passed away Thursday, June 20, 2019 at his home surrounded by his loving family.

He was born April 18, 1938 in the Sunset Community near Winslow, the son of William Robert and Sarah (Moore) Seely.

James Henry and Theresa Marie Mugley were married April 26, 1961 in Stilwell, Oklahoma. He was a dedicated husband, father, grandfather, and great-grandfather. He was a very laid back, humble and a soft-spoken man of few words, but his family and friends meant the world to him.

He was a member of the Winslow Assembly of God Church.

In his younger years, he was a great auto mechanic, he not only worked on automobiles, but also on lawn mowers for his neighbors.

He really enjoyed the great outdoors, hunting, fishing and camping.

James worked for the Rural Electric Authority and Clayton Woods Construction for several years.

Then he worked at Bear Brand Hosiery Company as Maintenance Supervisor until they closed the business in Fayetteville in 1980.

After that, he worked at Hiland Dairy for 18 years. He retired in 1998. They couldn’t do without him for long because he was the only one that knew how to work on the machines that molded the plastic milk jugs. He went back to work for 7 more years. After a total of 25 years at Hiland he retired for good.

He was involved in helping Winslow set up their first organized volunteer fire department.

He also served on the Winslow City Council for several years and was Winslow’s first Water Department employee, the Meter Reader.

He was preceded in death by his wife of 55 years, Theresa; his parents; and three brothers, Willie Robert Seely (infant), Buddy Seely, and Charles Hutchens.

He is survived by his three daughters, Maxine Reed (and husband, Raymond) of Brentwood, Tracy Wilson (and husband, Brian) of Winslow, and Kelly Raborn (and husband, Willie) of Mountainburg; seven grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren; two brothers, Donnie Seely (and wife, Norma) of Brentwood and J. D. Seely of Kingman, Arizona; three sisters, Daisy Harrison of Decatur, Ruby Golab (and husband, Wendell) of Fayetteville and Martha Cooper of Rogers; several nieces and nephews.

Visitation will be 5:00–7:00 pm, Wednesday, June 26, 2019 at Moore’s Chapel.

Funeral service will be 2:00 pm, Thursday, June 27, 2019 at First Assembly of God in Winslow.
