Norma L Shank, 84 years, of Ball Lake, Hamilton, and formerly of Bryan, Ohio, passed away Friday January 27, 2012 in her residence.

Norma was born August 7, 1927 in Wakarusa, Indiana to the late Ray and Florence (Berkey) Letherman. She was a 1945 graduate of Wakarusa High School.

She married Kermit E Shank on May 8, 1948 in Wakarusa, and he survives.

Norma began her working career at McBride's Dry Cleaning in Angola. She then worked in the Bookkeeping Department at Miles Laboratories in Elkhart, Indiana. Norma and her husband Kermit were the co-owners of Sharp's Decorating in Bryan, Ohio for 25 years, retiring in 2002.

Norma was a member of the Hamilton United Methodist Church and formerly a 40 year member of Wesley United Methodist Church in Bryan. She was also a member of the Red Hat Society, Ball Lake Bridge Club, the Ball Lake Book Club as well as the Steuben County Homemakers. In her younger years, Norma had been a Girl Scout Leader. Norma enjoyed bowling for many years.

Surviving is her husband, Kermit E Shank of Ball Lake; one daughter, Susan K (Louis) Ocker of Sylvania, Ohio; one son, Thomas E (Connie) Shank of Bryan; one granddaughter, Molly E (Philip) Wolf of Sylvania, Ohio; two sisters, Imogene Kulp of Elkhart, Indiana and Maribelle Sponseller of Elkhart, Indiana.

She was preceded in death by two brothers, Linward Letherman and Ray Letherman, Jr.

Relatives and friends will be received at the Hamilton United Methodist Church 7780 S. Wayne Street, Hamilton on Tuesday, January 31, 2012, from 12 Noon until the time of her service at 1 pm with Pastor Jack Smith officiating. Interment will be private.

Arrangements have been entrusted to Oberlin-Turnbull Funeral Home & Crematory, 3985 E Church St, Hamilton, Indiana.
