Evelyn "Effie" Gray was born to Fredrick Charles Albert Gray and Phoebe Reed. She had 1 older brother and 3 younger sisters plus 9 half siblings so she was the 2nd mom in the family. She worked hard helping out at home and got a job in a photography studio at the age of 16 to help the family make ends meet. She met Rue Smith and married him in 1908. They had 4 children-Evelyn, Ruby, Reed and Elaine. She worked in the family grocery store in Salt Lake City which was on 21st South and 4th East. She loved to travel and being with her kids and grandkids. She was around to help when all 8 of her grandchildren were born and also when several of her great grandchildren were born. She lived to be almost 96 years old. I still really miss you Nana.
