Note: There is some mystery and uncertainty around the specific circumstances of George's enlistment, service and death (including date of death). We do know that he left a widow (Mary J. Brown) and four sons, two of which were twins. The sons were Samuel, Charles M., Milton M., and George. His widow later remarried (William T. Spence), and the George's sons were brought up in a number of homes before reaching adulthood.
