Mr. John Allen, postmaster at Mono Mills for fifteen years, died at his residence in that village Sunday night. Mr. Allen was born in Mono in 1846 and taught school for a time in early life. He was married to a daughter of John Kidd, sr., of Mono Mills.
John Allen is named on a gravestone in Forest Lawn, Orangeville, but he is not in that burial register. It is believed he is buried in Mono East Cemetery with his parents and son, William John, who is named with him on the Forest Lawn gravestone, but he, also, is not in the burial register. William John has a small marker in Mono East.
