Naomi Virginia Lee Rice entered this life on June 11, 1935 to Fred David Pate and Neoma Jacquelyn (Woodard) Pate in Bradley, Oklahoma. Her sweet nature was an inspiration to many. She had one of the greatest gifts of making everyone feel loved and spent many hours praying for those she loved. She joined her Heavenly Father and her Savior on June 17, 2019.
Virginia accepted Christ at a very early age and continued to serve him throughout her life. She was a great prayer warrior for the Kingdom of God.
Virginia attended school in Wewoka, Oklahoma City and in Chickasha where she graduated. She graduated in 1953 from Chickasha High School.
Virginia was employed by Southwestern Bell as a telephone operator early in her career. Later she was secretary for Salvation Army, Talley Pest Control and Binyon Funeral Home, all in Chickasha. She moved to Duncan in 1980 and was a cashier at Wal Mart where she worked until she retired. She had resided in Sulphur, Oklahoma for the last five and half years due to her failing health.
On September 19, 1953 Virginia married the love of her life, Willie Ben Rice. They were married sixty-five years. To this union she was blessed with three (3) children, five (5) grandchildren, nineteen (19) great-grandchildren and will soon be blessed with another great-grandchild.
She was an avid reader, always had a book, newspaper or magazine in her hands reading. She loved to work cross word puzzles, loved going to the park, and loved seeing all the Christmas lights and special holidays.
She loved spending time with her church family and one of her favorite things was to attend church activities and loved to play the games and participate in all the activities.
Virginia was a devoted wife, mother, Mimi and Mimi-great and sister to her family. Family was very important to her and loved spending time with all of them. Although she loved all of her siblings, she had a very special bond with her sister Wanda. She knew how to show grace, comfort and hope to those around her.
