Dale K. Wingate, age 71 of Chesterton, IN, passed away on June 14, 2019. He was born on October 16, 1947 in Chicago, IL, to Darl and Hazel Wingate, both of whom preceded him in death.
On July 30, 1983, in Oak Lawn, IL, he married the love of his life, Susan Steinbach Wingate, who survives in Chesterton, IN.
He is also survived by his loving children: Stacey Wingate of South Carolina, Clinton Wingate of Illinois, Jason Wingate of Missouri, Alicia Wingate of Valparaiso, IN, Alena Powers of Hegewisch, IL, Alex Wingate of Chesterton, IN, and Grayson Wingate of Chesterton, IN; and by his grandchildren: Eamon, Hazel, Sofia, and Evelyn.
He was also preceded in death by his brothers, Daryl Wingate and William Wingate.
Dale proudly served his country in the 101st Airborne Division in Vietnam and was also a proud member of the DAV, Disabled American Veterans. He enjoyed walking in the woods with his dogs, Jasmin and Izzy. He was also an avid jogger and loved to plant trees and plants.
A Service will be held at Abraham Lincoln National Cemetery in Elwood, IL, on Tuesday, June 25, 2019, at 11:45 a.m. A luncheon will follow at Stone City VFW Post 2199, 124 Stone City Dr., Joliet, IL.
Arrangements are under the care of White-Love Funeral Home, Chesterton, IN.
