She was educated at the Wilson City schools; Warrenton Country School, Warrenton, Virginia; and The Greenwood School, Ruxton, Maryland. She was married to the late Garland Scott Tucker, Jr., on June 13, 1946.
She is survived by her four children and their spouses: Garland Scott Tucker, III, and wife Greyson Shuff Tucker; Edwin Davis Barnes Tucker and wife Nancy Wilson Tucker; Macon Tucker Newby and husband Paul Martin Newby; and Sarah Tucker Knott and husband Joseph Thomas Knott, III. She is also survived by her niece, Edna Lovelace Gaston, fifteen grandchildren, and eight great grandchildren.
A private graveside service for family members will be held at Oakwood Cemetery on Wednesday, October 10. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to The Salvation Army, 1863 Capital Blvd, Raleigh, NC 27604.
