Silas Daniel "Cy" Tedder of Beckley went home to be with the Lord on Friday, June 14, 2019 with his loving wife and daughter holding his hand.
Born December 13, 1925 at Hotchkiss, he was the son of the late Carlie and Katie Billings Tedder. Silas attended Mark Twain High School. He served four years in the US Navy during WWII, and was involved in the battle of Okinawa. After being discharged, he worked for over 38 years at the Slab Fork Preparation Plant and held his co-workers in high esteem. He was of the Baptist faith, and was a devoted born again Christian, who faithfully read his Bible daily and served his Lord everyday.
In addition to his parents, Silas was preceded in death by five brothers: Rosco, Talmage, Oliver, Bill and Clifton Tedder; Eight sisters: Edna, Ethel Blevins, Etter Acord, Minnie Petty, Marie Tedder, Beulah Milam, Virginia Kincaid, Hazel Ward and Manda Birchfield.
Those left to cherish his memory include his loving wife of 63 years, Hazel; daughter, Cathi and husband Bob Thompson, and Oliver his little furry friend .
Services will be conducted at 1:00 PM Tuesday, June 18, 2019 at Rose and Quesenberry Peace Chapel in Beckley with Rev. Dale Birchfield officiating. Entombment will follow at Blue Ridge Memorial Gardens Mausoleum at Prosperity, WV. Pallbearers will be friends and family. Friends may gather with the family on Tuesday from noon until service time at the funeral home.
