William Buchanan (1771-1845)

I would like to note that this William Buchanan is not buried in the Buchanan family cemetery (originally the family cemetery of his brother Wilson Buchanan) in Brown Township, Ripley County.

He was buried in a private plot a few hundred feet to the west. Sometime between 1972 and 1985 (probably in 1984 after the Ripley County Historical Society resurveyed Brown Township cemeteries) his stone and that of a grandaughter were moved to the Buchanan family Cemetery. The stones from the nearby McLaughlin Cemetery were moved at the same time
