Marie Morel, 87, Dickinson, died Saturday, June 8, 2019 at CHI St. Alexius Bismarck. Marie’s Mass of Christian Burial will be 10 a.m., Friday, June 14, 2019 at St. Patrick’s Catholic Church, Dickinson with Fr. William Ruelle as celebrant. Interment will take place at St. Elizabeth Cemetery, Lefor. Visitation will be Thursday from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m. at Ladbury Funeral Service with a rosary and vigil at 7 p.m., with Deacon Bob Zent presiding. Visitation will continue one hour prior to the service at the church.

Marie Rebel was born May 30, 1932 on her parent’s farm in rural Stark County, south of Richardton, the daughter of Anton and Katie (Goetz) Rebel. She was raised and educated in the rural area.

After working a year as a housekeeper in Dickinson, she married George Morel April 24, 1952 in a ceremony at St. Stephen’s Catholic Church, Richardton. They farmed together west of Lefor on the Morel homestead.

Marie enjoyed caring for her family, helping outside with chores and later in the years she spent most of her time embroidering and making quilts for her extended family. She loved making special projects that were requested.

Marie is survived by her sons, Dennis (Margie), Georgia, Gary (Bonnie), Eric (Carla) all of Dickinson and Charles (Chris), Minn.; daughters, LaVon (Garry) and Lora (Harry) all of Rapid City, S.D. She has 15 grandchildren and 26 great-grandchildren. Also surviving are her sisters, Katherine Harrington, Betty Kurtz and Eleanor (Clifford) Walter; and brother Tony Rebel.

She was preceded in death by her husband, George on September 30, 2015; infant son, Curtis; grandson, Dwight Morel; her three brothers, Matt, Nick and Joe; two sisters, Eva and Helen; three sisters-in-law; and six brothers-in-law.
